In a recent move, Franklin Templeton has updated its S-1 filing for the Franklin Crypto Index ETF, aiming to gain approval to gradually add tokens to the fund. The updated filing reveals that the Franklin Crypto Index ETF will initially focus on Bitcoin (86.31%) and Ethereum (13.69%). While it doesn’t commit to adding other cryptocurrencies, the filing leaves open the possibility for future additions, depending on SEC approval. In the filing, Franklin Templeton specifies that it would only add a token to the Franklin Crypto Index ETF if the SEC has approved or authorized an exchange-traded product/fund for that particular token. If approved, this would be a big break through offering both institutional and retail investors exposure to digital assets without being tied to a single cryptocurrency.
