Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team has announced a multi-year partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, marking the first time an F1 team has publicly disclosed a sponsorship deal paid entirely in digital assets.

The agreement, settled in USD Coin (USDC), highlights the growing integration of cryptocurrency within professional sports.

Under the deal, Coinbase branding will appear on the AMR25 race car. Notably, the partnership aims to promote cryptocurrency adoption and explore blockchain-based fan engagement opportunities.

This partnership shows the trust and confidence we place in Coinbase’s expertise as a leader in digital finance,” said Jefferson Slack, managing director of commercial at Aston Martin Aramco. “By transacting this deal fully in USDC, we’re signaling our commitment to innovation, building a sustainable, forward-thinking relationship with Coinbase.

Coinbase’s First Fully Crypto-Funded Sports Partnership

Coinbase has positioned itself as a key player in making digital assets accessible and secure. The firm sees this partnership as an opportunity to expand crypto adoption and visibility within the high-profile world of Formula One.

This is a huge milestone for Coinbase, marking the first time we’ve invested in a sports partnership entirely in cryptocurrency,” said Gary Sun, vice president of marketing at Coinbase. “It is also our debut in Formula One, and we are excited to embrace an industry that equally values pushing the boundaries with transformative ideas and technology.”

USDC Stablecoin Payment and Future Crypto Adoption in F1

The use of USDC provides a secure and transparent transaction method, reducing the volatility concerns often associated with cryptocurrencies. This deal could set a precedent for other F1 teams and sports organizations exploring digital asset-based sponsorships.

With Formula One’s growing interest in blockchain technology—evident through past partnerships with crypto exchanges and NFT projects—this collaboration underscores the sport’s increasing alignment with digital finance.

As the season progresses, it remains to be seen how Aston Martin Aramco and Coinbase will leverage blockchain for fan engagement and future innovations.
